Real Times, Real Talk
The Young Black Women's Society, Inc. hosted a Financial Empowerment Seminar at Emmanuel College designed to show women how to take control of their financial future. On Saturday, March 21st, this half-day conference included speakers, Monica Cost of Evidently Assured, Belinda Fuchs of Own Your Money and Jameel Webb-Davis speaking on the Myths About Money.
Women's Economic Forum
The Boston Women's Fund sponsored an event on Saturday, March 14th called "Sharing Our Time, Talent, Treasure and Tradition in a Tight Economy". This half-day conference took place at Simmons College and covered topics like "Criteria For Giving" and "Social Change Philanthropy". Jameel Webb-Davis was asked to speak on the topic of "Financial Literacy and Charitable Giving".
Belmont Day School
Lee Burns, a parent of students attending Belmont Day School organized an event for parents where they can learn skills to teach their kids about money. With over 25 parents in attendance, the event was enjoyable and informative. Jameel sold copies of her book as well as booked appointments for on-going clients. Thanks Lee for all the support!
Tufts University
The Women's Center, Africana Center and 85 Broads sponsored an event at Tufts University called, "What Every College Student Should Know About Their Finances." Jameel Webb-Davis spoke to college students about all aspects of their money from managing a checking account to understanding credit cards. The students were definitely engaged asking more and more about investments and the economy.

METCO Youth Conference
The METCO Directors' Association will host the 12th Annual Youth Leadership Conference on April 9th at Bentley University. The theme of the conference is "Ain't No Stopping Us Now: The Dream Emerging". The purpose of the Youth Conference is to provide an educational event that augments youth leadership and enhance the continual development of students toward responsible and informed citizenship. With classes on Banking & Investing, Peer Pressure, and many others, as well as speakers, poetry, and dance, this is sure to be a wonderful day.
North Central MA Youth Leadership Summit
The 10th Annual Youth Summit is scheduled to take place in Fitchburg, MA on April 24th. The theme of this year's event is "Back to the Future" where they will honor youth that have served our community as peer leaders, past, present, and future. Summit attendees will have the opportunity to volunteer, participate in workshops, hear special guest speakers, have fun, and celebrate the successes of fellow youth leaders.
